After reading your web information, I know more about carbon neutral and carbon footprint. However, in what ways we can justified it is worth to apply carbon neutral? Do you need to do cost- benefit analysis? How? Outsourscing?

Your carbon footprint calculator seems to be missing a lot of items? Picking out four major items and claiming to be carbon neutral is good, but goes to the heart of the problem. What about the carbon used to make the components in your cars, computers, office furniture, and the million other items in your office. You can drive your car continuously every day and never use as much carbon as goes into production of one LCD computer screen??? Carbon Neutral is never ever going to be possible, and never has been, and planting trees, while the rest of the world cuts them down for houses, is a waste of energy? the carbon debate should be about population caps and sustainability, not carbon? those trees you are planting will be cut down one day to resture the farm land which will needed to feed a starving over populated world, so you will have simply wasted $400 per year????? My two cents worth.

Capitol Media is a web design and development company in Seattle Washington. I calculated my Co2 footprint as 1.19 tons per year. Do you know of any resources we can compare our output against others? I have no idea if 1.19 tons is good or bad, for a web based company that has 4 full time staff? Thanks Robert

Great article, thanks for going to the effort of sharing your journey. I am starting a small business with the goal of being carbon neutral from the offset. Thanks for the insight and look forward to being another carbon neutral small business in Australia. Thanks for the tree ;-)

Thanks for your carbon neutral article. I am also a small biz looking for advice on carbon, and yours is the only website that I have found helpful. I am based inPerth and probably have a different cost of carbon. How did you put together your carbon calculator? I would like to develop a Perth based one for myself. Thanks Alan

Just looking at finding green products for our clients. We are just in the process of putting our Consulting business together to provide Environmental management plans to small and medium business I commend you on the steps you have taken on your own. With your permission I would like to use part of your article on our future web site. This will show that you can go it alone, or use external services. I have looked at your Caps and would be interested to find out if they are also a fair trade product. One of the issues we have is to be greener than green, but at the same time look at the manufacturer of products to see that they are also carbon neutral, or have steps in place via a certified management plan. In the near future business will need to also calculate the carbon produced from the products they sell on behalf of others. Happy to share ideas with you as we progress. Well done for your efforts to date Neil

I love your site and the transparency of all your actions. I am interested in asking you to be involved in a research project that I am about to commence called 'Australian Experiences of Carbon Neutrality'. I'm in Melbourne unfortunately, but we could manage it by teleconference if you were interested. I will contact you next Friday, if that's OK, to talk further about it. Best wishes Catherine

I have read with interest your goal and love how simple you have made the understanding of this subject. Our 2 daughters learnt at school to be power monitors and we have adopted this into our home ever since, but now they are late teens, I seem to be the only one switching things off. I simple woiuld not have thought of switching off air conditioning 30 mins before leaving. Thanks and continue with the challenge!

Greetings, I am a recent American graduate who plans to go to grad school in Australia. While I prepare applications and take the required course work to do so, I also have a job on the side; that is turning a small oncology clinic that annually produces somewhere between 200-250 tons of Co2 to a carbon neutral office that can maintain medical sanitary standards at the same time. It?s daunting, especially since the idea of a carbon neutral business practice is new to most, not to mention those where product waste is an inevitable result of current medical practices that strive to save lives in sanitary conditions. While I have yet to find plentiful information that caters to making medical clinics carbon neutral, I am grateful that Promotion Products has given me a great launching point to start this project. Australia?s innovations in green energy and practices is one of the many things that attract me to its shores, and I look forward to seeing where Promotion Products goes in the future. I would also love to hear from anyone at Promotion Products if they have further information I could use! Cheers, Kylee

It is excellent to see what a small business has done to reduce their carbon footprint & become carbon neutral. Here in Coffs Harbour most of our businesses are small businesses and aprt of my job is to engage the (whole) community, including business to become more sustainable. I will certainly be passing this on. I can also see a potential for our Council to possibly use your products, so I will be passing this alonf to the appropraite people within my organisation too. Keep up the good work!

Terrific undertaking on your part and one of the most straight forward and easy to understand articles I've read. I'll be forwarding your article to all the businessess on my data base (about 3,200). Importantly, the collaborations you've achieved with suppliers and customers also provides a strategy with the potential to overcome some entrenched resistence to change typically resident within the supply chain of a number of my clients and retarding efficiency gains. I look forward to reading of your success in fulfilling the rest of your plans. Regards Chris Gardner

I commend you on your committment and hope you continue with the plan. We also are looking at ways to reduse our emmisions and encourage staff to be involved in ideas to be sustainable at work and home. We take part in walk to work and ride to work, we buy recycled products whenever possible and are a certified wastewise business through ecorecycle. Well done in encouraging businesses you are in contact with to also look at their ecological footprint!
